my story

I’ve been where you are.

I called myself a gum addict, eating two packs per day under the guise of just “liking gum” rather than the truth: as a tool to eat less and dull hunger. I counted calories for over 12 years, with the ever elusive 1200 calorie goal. I went to the gym for the sole purpose of “burning off” what I had eaten. I repeatedly binged on foods that I labeled as off-limits or bad for myself. I struggled with complicated gastrointestinal symptoms that I could not get a hold of. There was fatigue, anxiety, poor concentration, panic attacks. It took me the better part of my life to understand that not only were my habits not helping me meet certain arbitrary goals, but they were making me feel worse, both physically and mentally.

The other thing I’ve experienced? Providers told me nothing was wrong with me. My labs were fine, my body was acceptable, and my symptoms were just not that big a deal. I had to become my own advocate for how I was feeling in my body, to look deeper into non-traditional forms of medicine. It took years of behavioral counseling, lab work, the right vitamins and minerals, and, of course, individualized nutrition, to even begin working towards feeling better.

And that’s why I’m here. Because healing is holistic.

I am passionate about helping people find a more positive and peaceful relationship with both food and body, while also repairing imbalanced biological, physiological, and psychological systems. As a new mom, healing these relationships has taken on even deeper meaning, both in navigating postpartum changes to providing a safe space for the next generation. My counseling style is rooted in three paradigms: intuitive eating, and functional nutrition, and weight neutrality. I know what it’s like to feel like you don’t know how, what, when, or even why to eat. I know what it’s like to have a laundry list of symptoms that no one will take seriously. I also know that it doesn’t have to be this way. My mission is to help you reconnect with your body to find out what works for YOU and you alone.
